Full Mouth Rehabilitation

Full mouth reconstruction, full mouth rehabilitation and full mouth restoration are terms often used interchangeably to describe process of rebuilding or simultaneously restoring all of the teeth in both upper and lower jaws.

Full mouth reconstruction typically involves general or restorative dentistry performing procedures like crowns, bridges and veneers, and can sometimes incorporate dental specialities like periodontics- treating the gums, oral surgery-any tooth removal if required, orthodontics- any tooth movements and positions need to be changed and endodontics- treating the tooth pulp.

The need for full mouth reconstruction may result from

  • Teeth that have been lost due to decay or trauma.
  • Teeth that have been injured or fractured.
  • Teeth that have become severely worn as a result of long-term acid erosion (foods, beverages, acid reflux) or tooth grinding.
  • Ongoing complaints of jaw, muscle and headache pain requiring adjustments to the bite (occlusion).

Examination process requires records of your mouth-

  • X-rays/ OPG
  • Photographs
  • Models of your teeth
  • Model of your bite.
  • Occlusion of the patient that is, how the patient bites.

FACE-BOW

A face-bow is a dental instrument.Specifically, it transfers the relationship of maxillary arch and temporomandibular joint to the casts. The purpose of the facebow is to transfer both esthetic and functional components from the patient to the articulator in a very efficient manner.
