Dental bleaching, also known as tooth whitening, is a common procedure for lightening the discolored teeth and improving the look of your teeth.
Vital teeth whitening: The most common type is vital tooth whitening, done in the stained vital teeth.
Nonvital teeth whitening: This is for root canal treated teeth, where the stains are coming from inside of the teeth.
In-office whitening involves use of more powerful whitening gel. A specialized light or laser activates the gel and allows bleaching to happen faster.
For at-home whitening involves applying bleaching gel to the teeth using thin guard trays. At-home whitening can also be done by applying small strips that go over the front teeth.
The effects of bleaching can last for several months, but may vary depending on the lifestyle of the patient.
